Studio C on BYUtv

Working at BYUtv was the full state-of-the-art post house experience. I worked very closely with the post supervisor and we were able to build up a full post team from scratch. I took an active role in training and managing a staff of assistant editors, online editors, editors, colorists, and other positions all working on various shows for broadcast and digital platform. The programming we worked on includes documentaries, Granite Flats, Antique’s Roadshow, and many others. The bulk of my hands-on experience revolved around BYUtv’s hero program at the time: a sketch-comedy show called Studio C.

We worked very closely with the show’s producers, directors, and writers to carry these shows from production to air. Each episode gave me the opportunity to work as a DIT on set, assistant editor for seasoned editors, edit my own episodes of the show, and online edit to fully finish dozens of episodes for broadcast air. On top of my responsibilities, I built an in-depth knowledge of every role and responsibility of the post process at a polished and professional level and coordinated the creation and delivery of assets across several departments.

Thanks to all of our efforts as a team, the show has been a huge success with a very large fan base and hundreds of millions of views, ultimately establishing the case for original content for the entire station.
